Cosmetology Continuing Education

The Maryland Board of Cosmetologists now requires Cosmetology licensees to complete approved continuing education. Effective January 1, 2026, The State Legislature- HB 1600, requires Licensees to complete six hours of approved continuing education as a condition of license renewal. The Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR), now states the requirements for licensees.

Continuing Education Requirements

These requirements were posted on the new window. Information below is as of 9/5/2025.

Required Topics: 2 Hours

  1. Health – 1 to 2 Hours or
  2. Safety – 1 to 2 Hours or
  3. Welfare – 1 to 2 Hours or
  4. Board Laws and Regulations – 1 to 2 Hours

Required Elective Topics: 4 Hours

Total - 6 Hours

Fall 2025 Continuing Education Course Availability

Due to the interest in Cosmetology Continuing Education, there is limited or no space remaining for our scheduled courses this fall.

Please note: Space in these courses are available on a first-come, first-serve basis with payment due at the time of registration in order to remain enrolled. There is no waitlist held for these courses once they reach the maximum number of students.

All of our courses will also be offered during the Spring 2026 semester with scheduled dates being posted in November 2025.

Sanitation and Infection Control in Your Salon
