The Maryland Community College Promise Scholarship is a program designed to help low- and middle-income Maryland families pay for college. For eligible students, it can significantly reduce or even completely cover their tuition at a Maryland community college.

April 1, 2026 (for the upcoming academic year)
Are you Eligible?
You likely are if you meet these general requirements:
- You'll attend the community college in your county.
- You're eligible for in-state tuition.
- Income Limits:
- Single or single-parent household: AGI under $100,000.
- Married or two-parent household: AGI under $150,000.
- Academics:
- High school GPA: 2.3 or higher.
- Current college GPA: 2.5 or higher.
- You're a Maryland high school graduate or GED recipient.
- You haven't already earned a bachelor's or associate degree.
- You don't have another scholarship covering your full college costs.
How to Apply
- Credit Students: Simply complete your FAFSA (MHEC One App) by April 1. Make sure to list your Maryland community college!
- Non-Credit Students: You'll need to complete the FAFSA (or MHEC One App) by April 1 AND submit a separate Promise Non-Credit Application online through the MHEC One App in MDCAPS.
Additional Steps for ALL Applicants
- Submit Final High School Transcript: Provide your official final high school transcript to Raptor Central office. This helps verify your GPA and graduation.
- Sign Drug-Free Pledge: You will be required to sign a Drug-Free Pledge Form under financial aid required documents through you MYMC.
Important Notes
- "Last-Dollar" Program: This scholarship typically covers tuition and fees after other aid (like Pell Grants) has been applied.
- Award Amounts: You could receive between $200 - $5,000 annually, or your actual tuition and fees (whichever is less).
- Renewable: You can renew this scholarship for up to three years if you continue to meet the requirements, including:
- Maintaining a 2.5 GPA (for credit students).
- Continuously enrolling in at least 6 credits each semester.
- Filing your FAFSA/MHEC One App by April 1 each year.
